  Information About Our Bengal Kittens

We have selected the best-looking and sweetest Bengals we could find to develop our cattery lines and breeding program. All of our breeders are registered with TICA. Our goal is to have Bengal kittens that are loving, healthy, intelligent, beautiful and playful. We have companion kittens, breeder kittens and show kittens. We interview prospective owners carefully when they wish to purchase a kitten. This is especially true when the prospective owner wishes to have breeding rights. It is important to us that people are informed about the realities of housing breeding cats and are ready for that responsibility. We sell the vast majority of our kittens as companions in people's homes.

In our interviews we attempt to find out which kitten would be best suited for the prospective owner. Bengals, like people, have different personalities. Some are more outgoing, some a bit more shy, some are lap cats and some are more individualistic. Matching the personality of the kitten to the individual owner is an important responsibility to us. We find that Bengals do especially well in pairs or when joining a household with another cat. Where possible, we encourage people (especially if they are gone all day at work) to consider the kitten's needs for social play when making decisions about purchasing a kitten. We find we often sell kittens in pairs.

We sell kittens on a first-come, first-serve basis. Once we receive the deposit for a kitten (usually $100) we place the prospective owner on a wait list and then as kittens are available, people are offered an opportunity to choose their kitten. The price of each kitten is dependent on that kitten's pattern, color and quality. A kitten that is breeder or show quality could be sold as a companion at the higher breeder/show price.

Our kittens are raised in our home so that they receive the best care and socialization possible. They are played with daily. We believe that there is a window of opportunity when kittens are young when it is easy to introduce them to new experiences. Therefore, we have our dogs and other cats around the kittens once they have had their first immunizations.

In order to properly socialize our kittens and provide you with a healthy pet, we keep all kittens until they are at least 12 weeks of age. The age they are released to their new homes depends on the individual kitten and its development. Raising healthy, confident kittens that will adapt easily to their new homes is our goal. When a kitten is ready to go to its new home, it will be eating well on solid food.

The kittens are given a series of 3-way vaccines. A health history goes with each kitten so that you have a proper health record for your veterinarian. At 12 weeks, kittens can be picked up or shipped to an airport near you. We take kittens to Denver International airport so the trip will be as easy on them as possible. Payment of the full purchase price, plus all shipping costs, is required before the kitten is sent. We always attempt to find a method of transportation that is beneficial for the kitten/cat and for the prospective buyers.

If you would like to see more of the kittens, we can provide pictures via e-mail or regular mail. Please be aware that Bengal kittens go through a fuzzy stage from 2 months to about 4 or 5 months. The pattern becomes obscured by long guard hairs which magically blend in by 5 months, revealing a beautiful healthy coat. This fuzzy period is often known as the "uglies". One thought about the fuzzies is it is a carryover from the Asian Leopard Cat-- providing camouflage to young kittens venturing away from the nest. For breeders, it means saying to people: "the kitten will be gorgeous, trust me". Bengal coats continue to change in color for about a year.

We want to help you make a good choice, as our primary goal is to match each kitten with the best home we can find. We interview prospective kitten buyers, so don't be offended by us asking questions about YOU, while you're asking questions about US.

We are very happy to talk with you on the phone to answer any questions you may have. It is a pleasure to get to know those interested in these beautiful and intriguing cats.

Best Wishes - Barbara and Brad
